About Emerald Hill Podiatry
Meet Dr. Saw Yu Ting
Overview
Having completed her podiatric education and surgical training in the United States, Dr. Saw Yu Ting (An Allied Health Qualification) has the distinction of being the only surgically trained Singaporean podiatrist to date. She received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in 2017, where she was inducted into the Pi Mu Delta National Honors Service Society.
Dr. Saw completed her rear foot and ankle surgical residency program in 2020 at the Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital, also covering podiatric care at two Level 1 Trauma Hospitals. During her residency training, she was extensively trained in inpatient and outpatient diabetic limb salvage, foot wound care, sports medicine, nail care, geriatric and pediatric care and biomechanics.
Her hands-on experience extends beyond her residency term. During her DPM degree, she trained at eight different city hospitals around the New York City area. This allowed her to gain a wide range of exposure to varying podiatric pathologies. As a student, she was also awarded the Dr. Sidney Solid Award for excellence and accomplishment in podiatry and service to the podiatric community.
Background
Dr. Saw lived and grew up in five different countries and territories: Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Canada, and the US. Through her moves, she had to quickly learn to adapt and relate to classmates of diverse backgrounds, and this skill has translated to her being able to effortlessly relate to her patients.
While obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology at Boston University, Dr. Saw conducted research at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and presented her research at the Dana Farber Harvard Cancer Centre. Dr. Saw then moved back to Singapore, where she continued to delve into the research realm and was a research assistant in rheumatology at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). While in podiatry school, Dr. Saw was a strong advocate for the podiatric profession and was a Student Ambassador for NYCPM, often speaking with prospective students and leading school tours. During her time in residency, Dr. Saw completed the Comprehensive Course of Internal Fixation for Reconstructive Surgery and Trauma of the Foot & Ankle at the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis, enriching her podiatric skillset. She also completed the Limb Deformity Course at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Dr. Saw wishes to apply her in-depth knowledge and passion for podiatry to care for patients in Singapore.
